I love this work and can see why you earned a Daily Deviation for it. A lot of detail and silliness here. I am also glad that you posted this drawing in its full size. (I just saved a copy for my desktop)
This is fantastic! Some of my favorite things: the two guys pulling on the same rope, the eye patch drying with the socks, the snake that's been eating glass bottles, the guy shouting and pointing at the dead canary haha.
yes, in the past people used to canaries with them when working in mines. this way they were able to figure out if there were any dangerous gases down there (mainly karbondioxid [which means low oxygen] and methane [which is pretty flammable]). those birds* are way more sensitive those gases, so when they suddenly started to act weird or dropped dead, the miners were alarmed.
*by the way: mice are even about ten times more sensivite than canaries!
This is truly fantastic! The consistancy in this picture is really impressive! It takes a lot of patience and thought to create a picture like this. It brought back to mind a "spying" book about Noah's Ark from my youth. I remember loving all of ye little details to find from within the pictures! This is awesome! ^^
